Our Idea Of Life Sized

I was pondering my life the other day. I was going over this
and that aspect of what I am doing, where I am going etc etc.

I thought of how we all look at our lives as this big project
that we are so wrapped up in at times. The interesting thing
is that in the scheme of things or the universe as a whole my
life is but a spec. Our perspective and realities differ greatly
to. So what is reality then? Thats something to ponder.

Although I am very busy with my family, job, businesses and
friends it sometimes seems so pointless. There are days when
I just want to check out of this program and go on a mission
trip to help other people some where were there is a need.

I want to do something great that is selfless. But how when
I am trapped in the race for housing, food, and time with others.
A lot of this activity I do not control, it just creeps up day
after day. It is scheduled for me by my job, family, children and
other daily tasks.

The one thing that keeps me going is doing nice things for people.
It does not matter who as long as I am sacrificing my time or money
to do it. This really helps me feel like I am contributing to this
great society of ours. Helping someone fix something or learn
something new is very satisfying.

I helped my neighbor last weekend put the new sod he had sitting
on pallets in his drive way on his new topsoiled front yard.
I adjusted all the new sprinkler heads so they covered the areas
properly. He did not ask me I just showed up.

Helping others is a great cure for whatever is ailing me.
